In 1999 , at age 42 , I was diagnosed with VIRAL CARDIOMYOPATHY .(This is , I breathed in a virus & it atttacked my heart. I was told that I had less than 3 years to live and was in dire need of a heart transplant. I was treated by 8 different hospital facilities , exhausting the medical expertise of many specialist.
Prior to my illness, my passion had always been fishing,shrimping & cooking.
My brother opened this restaurant in 2004 to help fullfill my dream.In the 10 months it was opened I was hospitalized more than 15 times.
January 2005, my heart was functioning at less than 5%. I had very little quality of life , without a transplant death was inevitable.
My wife & I had to leave our children and family , friends , home & Church: It was a very difficult Time for us,
Immediately upon arrival to St. Luke's in Houston TX, I was placed on a transplant list.
A short 7 Days later , while in still in Houston , our car was stolen. many ups & Downs.
Time Transpired from February to May until that long awaited call came- ( "A MATCH WAS FOUND !")
By mid - June , I had 27 teeth extracted , a heart transplant & Gallbladder removal all within 6 weeks !
I was discharged at a devasting 153 pounds .
I am happy to report that GOD kept me through all of this.
He supplied my needs , comforted my spirits & loved me uncondtionally.
As of May 22 , 2007 I am now celebrating 2 years transplanted & my new life! I thank God for finding me worthy of this miracle.
I was further blessed by seeing BOTH my children GRADUATE from High School & now off to College.
My wife and I celebrated our 22nd Wedding Anniversary as well.
All I know about the DONOR is he was 42 , From Forth Worth , Tx and in a fatal Car Accident. I thank God the he was a Donorand able to give me this chance to live life!
As a recipient , I encourage you to become a Organ Donor. It truly us a Gift Of Life.
Since the transplant , I had the opportunity to speak with to Donor Families . It is a decision that must be made at the time the loved one passes .
I pray that in sharing this testimony will give hope to all who must endure & wait on the Lord in circumstance, in particular illness.
God is the Great Physician & truly believe He'll do it for you & yours if you surrender your free will & commit to building a relationship with him. Love Him for he truly loves you and Remember , You can't give a testimony without going through a test !

I just can't Thank the Lord enough for the test,trials, & experiences of the past couple of years.
While my husband Charles , experienced a physical transplant , I was blessed with a Spiritual One !
My personality is that of a do-er ! I have boldness , and I am aggressive. I knew "of " God - Jesus, yet I didn't have a relationship with him either.
With Nothing but Good Intentions , I ran 100 to 90 all the time managing & mismanaging all of our situations & circumstances.
I basically was guilty of keeping God in a box. That is until the TRANSPLANT.
We could've gotten a heart transplant from various facilities : however the Lord seen fit to uproot ME, place me in Texas & teach me to wait ( endure ) . Forced to have idle time, I was able to focus my attention on growing closer to the Lord, allowing him to show up & Show out in my life.
Eventually , I found favor with the Lord and he began raining on me & mine. At one point he totally overwhelmed me with Blessings.
I now know that I know ..... I know !
It is vital to have a relationship with him on a daily basis - not only in a time of crisis.
I thank the Lord for loving me , keeping me , showing me mercy and grace...
He has since changed my personality. I have learned to use my talents for his Glory , after all, He is the one who gave them to me.
I pray that others will SEE the love of Jesus in Me - Not only hear about it.
Jesus truly is a friend of mine ! I hope to be faithful & Honor his friendship & Commandment to love others.
